Renata Powers Sanford

Renata Powers Sanford has performed in many musicals on Broadway such as How to succeed, Pleasures and Palaces, Skyscraper,and Fig Leaves are Falling. She has worked extensively with Bob Fosse. She co-directed and choreographed, with her husband Lathan Sanford, the premiere of Sweet Charity for the Country Dinner Playhouse in Dallas and Austin and Sweet Charityfor St. Louis muni Opera, Kansas City Starlight Theatre, Osaka and Nagoya, Japan.
As a long time faculty member of St. Edwards University in Dance, she also choreographed Lil Abner, Music Man, How to Succeed, Roar of the Greasepaint, Camelot, the Boyfriend, Fiddler on the Roof and others.
Her teaching credits in Austin include: Dance faculty at the University of Texas, St. Edwards University, Austin Civic Ballet/Ballet Austin, her own Sanford Studio, Austin Contemporary Ballet and co-founder and academy director of Austin Ballet Theatre.
She is presently a faculty member of Tapestry. She has taught classical ballet, dance drama, pointe work, character studies, soft shoe tap and Jazz. She is an active member of the Cecchetti Council of America, Int'l and holds licentia teaching certification in classical ballet from the Council and is an examiner of students and teachers of the Council.
