Intro to Dance / Combo ClassIntroduction to Dance teaches gross motor movements as well as basic ballet concepts and terminology. The students focus on creative movement exploration and practice. The Combo class combines creative movement, ballet and tap all into one fun-filled class. |

Classical BalletEvolving from a wordless dance drama, ballet began in the courts of Louis XIV. The basic technique consists of a strict code of rules regarding posture and movement based on five absolute positions of the feet characterized by turnout of the legs from the hip. Although there are different schools mainly French, Italian and Russian, basic principles are universally recognized and constitute an international language. |

Rhythm TapTap is America's folk dance with roots in Irish step dancing and African Juba. TDC's rhythm tap technique is based on the styles of the first generation 'hoofers' of Vaudeville, jazz clubs and Broadway with the contemporary exploration of the concert stage. Tradition is taught with an emphasis on musicality, relaxation and individuality. |

ModernClosely allied with creative discovery, modern dance arose in direct opposition to ballet's rigid standards and codified technique. Out of a need for meaningful personal expression, the voices of separate artists set the standards. Modern dance stems from an image of being earth bound (opposite of ballet) and frequently works barefoot. |

JazzBased on the social dancing of African American culture and jazz music of the 1920's, jazz dance is a living art form, influenced by cultural trends and personalities. Emphasis may be placed on isolations, style, technique, music and athleticism. |

Hip HopHip Hop is a dance form based on isolations, funk based movement and high energy grooves inspired by contemporary music and vernacular dance. As an international phenomenon generally acknowledged to have originated in the Bronx circa the 1970s, hip-hop transcends race, class and economic spheres. With strong ties to urban youth, it exerts a pervasive influence on what we wear, listen to and look at. |

Dance TheatreMovement in the Moment. Increasing dancers' movement vocabularies and dynamic range while incorporating acting fundamentals to enhance clarity in performance. Ie, making and committing to choices, finding the impulse for movement, and creating a journey. Amanda will spend class time doing acting exercises combined with modern/jazz technique. Jonathon will teach 4 master classes throughout the year, honing students' acting skills through in depth acting training. |

Moving Women: Women MovingOffered on Wednesdays, this 1 1/2 hour dance class made just for you: mothers, sisters, friends, single, married, and no experience needed! We will begin with a 30 minute pilates and yoga stretching warm-up. Then we will spend an hour dancing together. Come on, haven't you ever wanted to dance? Don't you want to move your body freely without worrying about how you look or who might be coming up behind you? Have you dreamt of being a prima ballerina, a salsa diva, or just wanted to get your body back into that 30 something shape? |

Bharata NatyamBharata Natyam is the sacred ancient dance from southern India. Originally performed during temple rituals, this highly stylized form is now performed in theaters worldwide. The dance technique reflects traditional aesthetics of symmetry and geometry as well as an expressive element in which hand symbols are used to tell stories. Students will have an opportunity to learn original Sanskrit terminology, traditional Indian rhythms, and footwork. |

BellydanceBellydance is a dance of muscle isolation and personal expression. The dancer interprets the instrumentation of Middle Eastern music, then displays the music with grace, strength, sensuality and playfulness. Students of bellydance typically benefit mentally and physically in many areas such as increased body awareness, body acceptance, goal setting and achievement, and stress relief. Class addresses the foundations of bellydance movements and hip articulations, posture, balance, strength and flexibility. |

Tapestry JamTapestry Jam is a fun and improvisational session for tap enthusiasts which allows for a creative and open exchange of steps and rhythms with live music and the guidance of Tapestry Dance Company members Jason Janas and Matt Shields! |

Boys BalletBoys Ballet is designed for beginning to intermediate level boys age 10 and older. The class is based on classical ballet technique with a concentration on movement specific for male dancers. Exercises to enhance jumps and turns are emphasized |

Music and MovementMusic and Movement is a fun-filled 45 minute class for 3-5 year olds which incorporates singing and dancing through creative movement. This class introduces basic concepts of dance in an environment that promotes individuation, creativity, and decision making. Each week a new theme is introduced which incorporates elements of gross motor skill development, coordination and balance, movement pattern building, basic social skills and expansion of the imagination. |

YogaYoga incorporates the basic asanas, or postures, with emphasis on breathing. Balance, flexibility, body awareness, and strength are all skills that are developed through the practice of yoga. Each class will conclude with meditation/visualization or chanting. |
