Dear Tapestry Family,

Even though the fall season is upon us, we at Tapestry are still delighting in all we were able to accomplish this summer with our education mission. Some of you may be unfamiliar with some of these aspects of Tapestry Dance Company's educational programs. I hope the expanded articles below will spark or fuel your interest in our vision for dance education at Tapestry.

Summer Dance Camp was once again awesome thanks to Brenna Kuhn, our amazing Academy Director. The studio was bustling all summer with both adults and youth taking classes in the evening and on weekends. Our pre-apprentice company, Visions in Rhythm (VIR), sent members to participate in the Youth Tap Ensemble Conference (YTEC) at the Chicago Human Rhythm Project. We thank our many Tapestry family members who helped sponsor these young dancers' participation in YTEC by participating in so many of VIR's fundraising events. Their spring performance this season will showcase what they learned in Chicago and your belief in their quest for artistic excellence. Jackie Coleman (company member) and Tony Merriwether (apprentice) went through the VIR program and will be rehearsing and performing with Tapestry Dance Company next season.

Fall classes and activities will be just as rich as those of the summer. Welcome back to our returning students and a big hello to our new ones! Look me up and introduce yourself if you see me wandering around the studio, which I am apt to do.

We have some interesting options for the big move in December. Nothing definite today but we should have a firm decision soon. We still need lots of volunteer help with the build-out and of course, cash donations. Please contact me at: j.witkin@sbcglobal.net if you are able to assist us.

Let's keep sharing the power of dance with Austin!

Sincerely,

Judy Witkin
President, Tapestry Board of Directors
